This is brilliant!

Interesting video, though I wonder if this changing of  paradiam can ever be achieved in a matured society.

I agree with you. It is a really tough task. While it is hardly achievable, it is worthwhile to try a little bit more divergent thinking in classrooms.

Actually, divergent thinking is not new to the educators. It was used and is being used by teachers and students. For instance, the inquiry-based teaching.   However, the new paradigm requires to base public education on divergent thinking, this seems too radical.

Traditionally, the Confucian-influenced societies (China, Korea, Japan) require extreme coherence in education, simply because divergence is against the principle of a coherence society. Western (American) system, on the other hand is much more divergent, however, the current trend is going the other direction, longer school days, more stringent test etc, what an Irony!

:) I do see these phenomena you mentioned. More than that,  I should say all educational researchers have noticed that. Whereas this is ture, I see there are good things:  Western countries and Eastern countries are learning from each other, and seeking better ways to give students more opportunities to be better prepared for the future. :)

Is Lily an Education major?I thought you were a Physics major in college.

Physics education, more exactly. A combination of physics and education. :) Focused on physics when I was doing Bachelor, as required bythe universtiy. Now focusing more on education, that's my research direction.
